Through 22 years' practice of gifted education, our school has basically formed some specific models for identifying and selecting gifted students and for their education, but in the course of our probing of how to bring the gifted students' potential to its fullest play, a serious question has come up, which is what kind of teachers are most suitable for gifted education. Whether we can have a qualified teaching faculty determines the success of gifted education. Through interviews and investigations, the author has found the following problems in the faculty building: lack of faculty specially educated for gifted education, lack of a complete system of appointment and adjustment, lack of actual effectiveness in teacher training, and lack of efficient measures of encouragement and guarantee. And the causes are as follows: firstly, there is no relevant gifted teacher education at home; secondly, the methods the school adopts in the administration, assessment, and promotion of gifted education teachers are similar to those of common teachers, which can' t reveal the peculiarity of the work of gifted education teachers. The author, realizing the necessity of gifted education faculty building, puts forward some possible solutions to the above- mentioned problems as a reference for the leaders and gifted education teachers.This thesis is divided into four parts.Part 1 The introduction to the background, the present situation, and the significance of the research.Part 2 The introduction to the research on gifted education faculty building both home and abroad and its revelations.Part 3 An analysis of the present situation of gifted education faculty building in our school: the problems and their causes.Part 4 Possible solutions to the problemsIn conclusion, gifted education faculty building is a vital aspect of gifted education. Gifted education teachers, in order to become qualified, desperately need the education specially designed for them, so that they can cultivate real talents for our country.
