Tao Xingzhi is an outstanding reformer and practitioner in modern China. This article specializes in Tao's infant educational theory and practice, inquires into its quintessence and basic viewpoints, and analyzes its directive significance in the reform and development of the current countryside infant education in China.This article unifies the present situation of the current countryside infant education. On the basis of the fundamental research and the practice investigation, the paper puts emphasis on the modern value of Tao's infant educational theory and practice, focuses on the realistic questions' ponder and solution. The following three parts are the main contents of this paper:Part One: Introduction. Including the reason of research, literature summary and relating concepts, and the research aim,content and method.Part Two: A brief account of Tao's infant educational theory and practice. From the perspective of the union of the theory and practice, Tao advanced the following theories. 1. He pointed out the importance of countryside infant education: Infant education is not only the foundation of life but also the basis of the entire school education. Countryside kindergarten is the village society's universal and permanent demand. 2. He set the reform goal of countryside infant education: Establishing economical village kindergartens which suit our national condition for the common people as well, and proposed the tentative plan of popularizes the pre-school education. 3. He expounded a complete series of the content and methods of implementating countryside infant education: The education content should draw close to the children's real life and make use of the materials from the children's nearby neighborhood. The education method is to liberate the children and make them obtain the true knowledge and toys from the big nature and society. 4. Tao thought the biggest difficulty of popularizing the countryside pre-school education is teacher's training, He create a new preschool teachers school and Originally create the skill-friend system, Tao's countryside infant educational theory and practice , provides later generations with practical and distinct experience and methods with Chinese characteristics.Part Three: The contemporary explanation of Tao's infant educational thought and experience. This paper first analyzes the present situation of the countryside pre-school education : The countryside kindergarten enrollment is low; the fund is extremely insufficient; the phenomenon of elementary school is serious, the education content and method divorces from reality of the village life; The teachers are badly qualified, their salary is low and unstable, and they lack the training opportunities. On the basis of those factors, Tao proposed the countermeasure and suggestion to reform the current countryside pre-school education: Change the core of pre-school education to the countryside; Build up kindergartens through thrift and hard work in various ways; Make full use of the resources of the country nature and the whole society, make self manufacturing teaching toys, develop local-specific teaching materials, adjust teaching method; train teachers in multi-ways.
