I make a special study of Tao Xingzhi's infant educational theory and practice, inquire into its thought marrow and basic viewpoints in this paper and analyse its directive significance of the implementation and reform of the current infant scientific education in China. Tao Xingzhi once pointed out the importance of infant education, expounded the theory and methods of scientific educational implementation, which provided later generations with practical and distinct experience and methods with the characteristics of China. The following three parts are the main contents of this paper.It's Tao Xingzhi who lets science come down from "Temple of God". He created a new field of scientific education, regarded infant education as the beginning stage of scientific education and also made long-term educational exploration and practice.In Tao Xingzhi's point of view, scientific education should start from childhood. As soon as there are Scientific Children, Scientific China will come into being naturally. Whether the development of a nation, or the course of infant individual growth, the value of infant scientific education is definitely of great importance. As to the aim of infant scientific education, Tao Xingzhi has his unique understandings, such as: to cultivate the interest of science and the abilities of scientific application and creation; to gain the scientific knowledge and experience; to uplift influence on scientific spirit and morals and so forth. In Tao Xinzhi's opinion, the contents of scientific education should press close to infant life-to draw material from child's side. The contents of the curriculum should be compressive, which should contain natural science and social science as well. Tao Xingzhi thinks that the methods of scientific education should be the following ones: Infants use their hands as well as their brains to play scientific tricks and do scientific minor experiments. He also points out that the key to the implementation of scientific education is teachers. And he raises specific demands for teachers.Tao Xingzhi's ideas of infant scientific education have great realistic significance and directive function in promoting scientific education in our country, especially in popularizing and improving infant scientific education, speeding upthe accomplishment of the strategy-to flourish our country through thedevelopment of science and education.The following aspects have shown its significance clearly: a fresh understanding of the importance of infant scientific education; a fresh location of the goal of infant scientific education; a fresh survey of the contents and methods of infant scientific education and a fresh investigation of teachers quality.
