Tao Xingzhi is our great educationalist, thinker, and Chinese intellectual talentsrepresentative. He undertook deep and unique research into Chinese education system, and putforward a set of complete education theory which can push development of Chinese education togreat extent.One critical issue in21st century in Chinese education was to find solution for how toimprove students’ study enthusiasm to enable students to be willing, happy and good at study.Many students nowadays are not positive at studying at school as per our current educationreality. To cultivate and improve students’ study consciousness and ability, our educationemphasis should focus more on cultivating students’ study ability to help students find suitablestudy method and know how to study and love study. Besides as for our national specific status,nowadays we still have many Chinese adults not well educated, even a large amount of adultsilliterate. How to help these not well educated people to improve cultural quality and learn howto study is an important factor in improving our comprehensive national strength. Therefore, it isurgent and important to find solutions for how to improve the study consciousness and methodfor the entire people.In Tao Xingzhi’s long term research into education theory and practice, he took the studyquestions very seriously, and he made excellent statements and analysis for study questionsamong students, teachers and common people, then raised different study thought and method. Itwill be important and realistic to move forward our new term school class education reform,cultivate students’ study ability and improve cultural quality of the entire people if wesummarize, analyze and research into Tao Xingzhi’s study thought.This article intends to carry out discussion for this question from following aspects. Preface:Concisely explain topic base, already available relative research. Introduce research method andinnovation in this article. Part I: Background of Tao Xingzhi’s study thought formation. Part II.System of Tao Xingzhi’s study thought. Based on life reality of different social ranks, discourseupon different study methods for people from different social ranks. Basic content roughly includes following aspects: i. Students reading philosophy. Use alive books, flexibly use books.ii. Teachers’ study philosophy. Under guide of scientific spirit, study from books, students, andcommon people, form a teachers’ community to enhance every teacher to study. iii. Commonpeople study philosophy. First common people should have national spirit. For common peopleunable to study at schools should study at suitable places, adopt connecting education methodmore suitable for their study. iii. The entire people study philosophy. In order to really help lifewith study, hand and brain should work simultaneously. Study in ways of work and study team,small teacher system, passing teacher etc. v. Exam philosophy. Too much exams, content andform of exams are too stiffly formal and old. Solely pursuit of exam result leads to seriouscheating problem in exams. Exam is a way to checking study, not the final purpose of study. PartIII. Meaning of Tao Xingzhi study thought. Summarize study content and method of TaoXingzhi’s study thought. Part IV. Rethinking and realistic meaning of Tao Xingzhi’s studythought. In today time when scientific knowledge upgrades even more quickly, knowledgelearning speed and quality for individuals must be improved. Study should be connected with lifereality. The teachers, as main study guiders, should have open education concept and innovativeeducation thinking, love students truly, have healthy sentimental interactions with students. Loveto teach, and work down to earth, reconcile to be ladders for others. From summary of TaoXingzhi’s study theory, hope it will promote positively the development of Chinese virtueeducation and Chinese rural area education level.This article mainly summarizes and analyzes Tao Xingzhi’s study thought. Hope it can be areference for study questions arising from modern education system.
