Writing is one of the four basic language skills and it is the most difficult one. The high or low level of English writing is a comprehensive reflection of various abilities. At the present English writing teaching in senior high schools, Teachers focus on "cultivating the students' reading abilities", oriented by the exams and the NMET. Writing teaching is considered to be an instant way to deal with the NMET and it is put in the secondary position. Moreover, it takes time to train writing, and the result is far from satisfactory. Both the teachers and students are afraid of writing. This phenomenon basically prohibits the students' writing abilities. In order to explore a creative way of improving writing, many researchers are taking efforts.The thesis explores the application of interactive teaching of English writing in high schools based on teaching practice. Interaction is fully embodied in the process of writing .there is teacher-student, student-student, and teacher-group interaction in each writing step. There are six procedures: topic choosing,draft writing,reading,revision,writing and valuation. Teaching experiment shows that interactive classroom teaching is available and it is worth spreading. In the interactive classroom, teacher and students are joined together organically. Teacher-centered is turned into Student-centered. The students' psychological pressure (as anxiety) is reduced. Participation consciousness is strengthened. And their studying interests can be greatly motivated. The results show that this teaching pattern plays an important part in the realizing of English teaching object (that is to foster the students' comprehensive abilities) .This thesis consists of five parts:Chapter 1 begins with the introduction. It states the reason of topic choosing and the meaning of this research; it also displays the research methods and the ideology of this thesis.Chapter2 is the literature review. It reviews the "Interaction theory" and its' broad meaning in relation to this study. It expounds theory and evaluation of the interactive teaching and writing both abroad and at home.Chapter 3 is a review of the present English writing teaching from the aspects of the teachers and the students. It exposes the existing problems in the teachers' teaching and the students' learning through the questionnaires of the teachers and the students respectively.Chapter 4 is the contents of interactive writing in high schools. This part discusses the teaching organizations and types of interactive writing through theory and practice; it also deals with the features of interactive writing teaching and the functions. Chapter 5 is the experiment of the interactive writing teaching and statistical analyses. This part shows the experiment of different interactive writing in class (1)&(2)in Grade two in the School of the Air Force for the Youngsters of Wuhan with teaching practice. The data shows that the students' English writing scores of experimental class are significantly higher than those of the comparative class.The last part ends with the writer's general conclusions of this thesis. The interactive writing method is effective to improve the students' writing abilities. But it is just the writer's own attempts and practice within her ability. The efficiency is to be further studied and inquired.
