Reading cartoon books is one of prevalent cultural phenomena for Chinese high school students. Cartoon books can give high school students a lot of knowledge and pastime, but the contents in cartoon books such as force, eroticism, false knowledge, they bring high school students bad influence. Parents are the important tutor of high school students. Some researches have shown that parents' educational ways have a great influence on the development of children's body and mind. By now, the research on relationship between parenting style and children's reading cartoon books is still not carried out in the field of psychology. The study analyzed the correlation between parenting style and the current situation of high school students' reading cartoon books by EMBU and the questionnaire on the current situation of high school students' reading cartoon books made by myself. The result indicates:I . The self-made questionnaire on the current situation of high school students' reading cartoon books has good reliability and fair validity. By means of exploratory factor analysis, the research found that the questionnaire is constructed of four dimensions, that is, reading motivation, intelligence-enhancing effect of reading, passive conformity to the public of reading, introspection of reading.II . The current situation of high school students' reading cartoon books is manifested c learly from the differences between junior high school group and senior high school group. The mean score of reading motivation, intelligence-enhancing effect of reading, passive conformity to the public of reading of junior high school group is higher than that of senior high school group. While the introspection of reading of junior high schools group is less than that of senior high schools. Therein senior high school grade one is the turning point of less reading motivation and more introspection of reading.III. The gender difference in intelligence-enhancing effect of reading is very obvious. More boys prefer to read sports cartoon books, science fiction cartoon books, martial arts cartoon books, detective cartoon books. While more girls have preference to love cartoon books. And only a few high school students don't like cartoon books. Meanwhile, high school students spend more hours in reading cartoon books, they have stronger reading motivationIV. The differences between the parenting styles of the two groups are obvious.Parental overprotection, parental rejection and denial, parental punishment and sternness of junior high school group are much more serious than those of senior high school group. And junior high school grade two is the most obvious case in point.V. Great disagreement lies in father and mother's parenting style which is quite different between boys and girls. Parental overprotection, parental rejection and denial, parental punishment and sternness of boys are more than those of girls.VI. Parental overprotection, parental rejection and denial are obvious in direct ratio to reading motivation, intelligence-enhancing effect of reading, passive conformity to the public of reading. Mother's rejection and denial is in direct ratio to reading motivation, intelligence-enhancing effect of reading, passive conformity to the public of reading. Parental emotion-warmth is in obvious inverse ratio to passive conformity to the public of reading. Parental emotion-warmth is in obvious direct ratio to introspection of reading.VH. Parenting style may play a mediational role in linking children's gender, age, grade, number of reading hours, parental educational background, familial living condition with the current situation of high school students' reading cartoon books.
