High school is a key stage of life.In the context of the new college entrance examination policy,education departments,parents and students are very concerned about the new policy.Many high school students are confused about the new choice model and lack of motivation to study,which makes it difficult for them to devote themselves to study.Academic engagement is very important to the high school students,and the parenting style is closely related to their children’s learning state.Therefore,this study investigates the factors that affect the academic engagement of senior high school students under the new college entrance examination policy,explores whether the parenting style can affect the academic engagement through the sense of self-efficacy of career decision-making,then designs,implements and evaluates the intervention scheme of the sense of efficacy of career decision-making.In the first study,a total of 500 students from two high schools in Wuhan were investigated by using questionnaire.Then the effective data were collected and analyzed to test the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy.In the second study,a group counseling intervention program of career decision-making self-efficacy was designed based on the results of the first study and related theories.After that,24 eligible subjects were recruited for the pre-test and the post-test of the experimental group and the controlled group,and the effect of the intervention was investigated through data analysis.The conclusions are as follow:(1)There are significant differences in parenting style,career decision-making self-efficacy,academic engagement in whether the only child,parents’ education level.(2)Parents’ emotional warmth significantly positively predicted career decision-making self-efficacy,while parents’ refusal significantly negatively predicted career decision-making self-efficacy.Career decision-making self-efficacy can significantly predict academic engagement.Career decision-making self-efficacy plays an intermediary role in parenting style and academic engagement.Specifically,parents’emotional warmth affects senior high school students’ academic engagement by positively influencing their career decision-making self-efficacy;parents’ refusal affects senior high school students’ academic engagement by negatively influencing their career decision-making self-efficacy.(3)Group counseling for senior high school students’ self-efficacy in career decision-making is significantly effective.After group counseling,high school students’self-efficacy of career decision-making significantly improved,and further improved the level of high school students’ academic engagement.Finally,the significance and shortcomings of the research are elaborated,which can provide guidance and suggestions for parents and schools to promote high school students’ academic engagement,and provide ideas for future research. |
