Zhang Boling (1876—1951) was a famous Chinese patriotic educator of modern times , a pioneer who developed our modern times higher education. He established the whole Nakai university system by his whole life's energy and personal strength. He accomplished wonders in the education history of modern times of China. Especially Nankai university, the school he founded, which was famous for " founding university with lofty ideal, healthy school atmosphere, plenty of excellent teachers , and students of talent coming forth in large numbers ", was one of the most successful and vigorous universities . During his long higher education practices ,he established his original view on higher education ideas .Guided by dialectial materialism and historical materialism , The dissertation analyzes Zhang Boling's higher education thoughts systematically , and we hope we can give his thoughts an appraise based on the facts. and provide some valuable references for the present education reform.This dissertation consists of four parts :The preface gives an introduction of the reason in selecting topic of this dissertation ,sums up the current research state ,on the basis of this ,the thesis points out the shortages of ancient studies ,and introduces the aims, the thinking and method of this study summarily.The first part of the body introduces simply the background of Zhang Boling's higher education ideas .We analyze how his thoughts is formed ,mainly from two sides :one is social background and the other is his personal educational practices ,in order to build the base for revealing zhang Boling 's higher education thoughts.The second part of the body analyses the main content of Zhang Boling 's higher education thoughts. We analyze mainly from the four following sides: his founding-school thoughts "knowing china ,serving china ", training—students thoughts, viewpoints on teacher, and the thoughts of managing-education.The third part of the body : by analyzing Zhang Boling's higher education thoughts , we give his thoughts an appraise based on the facts. On the base of it ,we show some valuable references for our higher education development and revolution.
