The mental quality of preschool teachers means to the comprehensive representation of mental character, which takes personality as core, formed by the result-ant force from inborn and acquired, and have closely-related to the development of infants' mind and body while having great influence on it.It is a sort of organic synthetic function appearance of the preschool teacher permeating various components of mental phenomenon.The mental quality of preschool teachers is the foundation that the other characters depend on with the formation and the development, having important effect to the infants' growth and developmentThe purpose of this research is to explore the basic structure and present conditions of the preschool teachers 'mental quality. The main steps of research is as follows: Firstly, basing on the similar researches conducted in china and other countries, condidering the results of half open-ended questionnaires, and then construct a theoretical model matches to the preschool teachers 'mental quality; Secondly, make out a initial questionnaire for the preschool teachers' mental quality according to the structure model and apply it to the investigation in order to obtain the empirical structure of the preschool teachers' mental quality, then form the formal questionnaire; Lastly survey the present conditions of the preschool teachers' mental quality using the self-designed formal questionnaire. The research conclusion is as follows:1. After respectively investigating the 1774 preschool teachers from the whole country six areas,nice cities of eight provinces, with the questionnaire of the preschool teachers' mental quality and Factor-analyzing, we can conclude that the mental quality of preschool teachers is a structure of multi-components, including 11 components: incentive, sensitivity, enterprise, tenacity, self-control, teaching efficiency, creativity, broad-minded, self-esteem, justice, and optimism tendency.2. The mental quality questionnaire of the preschool teachers depending on the theory model and demonstration study has good reliability and validity3. The characteristics of mental quality of the preschool teachers in our countries have unbalanced development. From the compare of the score of each factor, the score of the self-control factor and the tenacity factor is remarkably lower than the other factors', which means that the present level of the mental quality of preschool teachers in our country exists the following problems: the ability of controlling and adjusting self-emotion is relatively weaker; the attitude towards persisting in the preschool education work puts up agitatedly, the willpower and courage to overcome the difficulties in the work is lacked4. The total level of the preschool teachers' mental quality approximately presents a trend of "u" form along with teaching age, if teaching years is less than 15 years, it slowly descend,but if teaching years is more than 15 years, it continuance ascend until reaches the peak.5. Teachers from different types of kindergartens differ in incentive, sensitivity, and tenacity.6. Teachers with different education levels differ greatly in mental quality. According as scores, teachers with middling education level gain the best score, teachers with higher education level gain the better scores than teachers with lower education level do. Teachers with middling education level and teachers with lower education level differ greatly in the scores of the mental quality questionnaire. The differences reflect on factors as follows: incentive, sensitivity, tenacity, creativity, broad-minded, self-esteem, justice and optimism tendency.7. Married teachers differ greatly form the unmarried in mental quality in incentive, sensitivity, enterprise, tenacity and creativity.In general, there are two creative points of the present research: (1) the components of preschool teachers' mental quality have been revealed by conceiving in theory and carrying out experiments. (2) Preschool teachers' mental quality Questionnaire for Completion by Teachers has been made out according with the psychometrics' demands. However, since the limitation of objective conditions and the research ability, the questionnaire should be further improved.
