The Chinese literacy plays the role as a core in Chinese Language Curriculum. There is a long debate about many aspects of Chinese Quality, such as: Is it necessary to discuss the concept of the language cultivated manners in Chinese education? If so, what's the nature of it and how to improve students'Chinese literacy? This paper aims to make a systematic study of this concept theoretically so that we can more properly apply it in practice. Four parts are included in the thesis:The first chapter is an introduction to the thesis, including research purpose, research background, and literature review and research methodology.The second chapter presents theoretical foundation and relevant concepts. This study is supported by the relevant theories of philosophy, pedagogy, psychology and Chinese education. Some concepts are defined in this chapter.The third chapter argues the significance of Chinese literacy from three perspectives. They are: the macro-situation for Chinese course teaching practice, the reform of modern Chinese teaching and the limitation of knowledge and ability of Chinese language teaching practice in the past. From the aspect of should, however, it makes the point that language cultivated manners is the result of self-development and self-fulfillment, which also conforms to the current trend of the development of education and language curriculum in our society.The fourth chapter reveals the essence of Chinese literacy from the angle of education, psychology and philosophy and proposes a mental model of Language Quality. We believe Chinese literacy is an internal model formed in the process of language learning.The fifth chapter concentrates on the improvement of Chinese literacy. Some elements to present Chinese teaching are concluded in this paper: highlighting the characteristic of Chinese course and utilizing curriculum resources; having a full knowledge of the Chinese language and promoting language ability; enhancing the practice of Chinese teaching and involvement of language learning; increasing the accumulation of knowledge and enriching the language knowledge mentally.
