New trends recently emerged in burnout research which both boils down to a broadening of the traditional concept and scope. Burnout research seems to shift towards its opposite: work engagement. This development reflects an emerging trend towards a'positive psychology'that focuses on human strengths and optimal functioning rather than on weaknesses and malfunctioning. On the bases of the analysis of the concepts of work engagement,relevant concepts of work engagement,the methods of study,and their current situation at home and abroad,this research revised the questionnaire of work engagement,and made a tentative study on the dimensionality of work engagement,and analysis the relationship among work engagement,job characteristics, organizational commitment,personality. The main conclusions are as follows:1. There are three dimensions of work engagement questionnaire, including vigor, dedication and absorption. This research verified that the scale had good level of reliability and validity.2. Regression analysis results indicate that organizational commitment , personality have stronger prediction function in work engagement.3. Job characteristics have stronger prediction function in organizational commitment.4. Job characteristics not only impact on work engagement directly, but also impact on work engagement indirectly through the medium of organizational commitment. Organizational commitment work as medium between job characteristics and work engagement.The conclusion was analyzed and discussed and the future research was expected.
