The basic task of moral education is to make one have morality. Understanding is the foundation of forming one's morality. Moral education must be built on the basis of understanding. But, at present, moral education is getting away from understanding. The students'"before-understanding"is kept out of the closed content, the method of inculcation kills the students'desire and ability to understand independently, the specious aim makes the students feel meaningless in life due to the lack of self understanding. Moral education, which is lack of understanding, is inefficient. More attention must be paid to one's understanding and make one learn how to understand in moral education, so he can form correct views on life, concepts of value and morality during the process of understanding himself, others and different ideas. Just owing to this kind of knowledge, moral education with the nature of understanding is put forward. Moral education with the nature of understanding is based on the students'whole life experience that is regarded as their"before-understanding", it aims at making the students promote their ethical state continuously by forming their qualities on understanding.The dissertation is divided into four parts altogether:The first part analyzes the age background in which moral education with the nature of understanding comes about from three sides: belief -crisis during the change of society, the impact of Internet society on moral education, and the challenge of pluralistic society to moral education. This part also analyzes the practical background of moral education from two sides: the contemporary students'demand to develop healthily, the need to overcome the defects of traditional patterns of moral education.The second part generalizes the connotations of understanding which is regarded as cognitive activity, research method of humane science, human basic way to exist at historical angle, then comes to the connotation of understanding in this dissertation and its characters: the character of emotion, of selfness, of language, of supremacy. This part also expounds moral implications of understanding : Understanding is the foundation of forming one's morality, the requirement of moral cognitive development, the prerequisite for moral choice and the bridge to moral freedom.The third part mainly elaborates the meaning and characters of moral education with the nature of understanding. It is thought that moral education with the nature of understanding is this kind of education which is based on one's whole life experience and is with the core of stimulating one to understand emotionally, aims at forming one's qualities on understanding, and then enhancing one's ethical state by creating some certain conditions to encourage one to understand himself and others. It has five characters: the character of openness, of situation, of life, of interaction and of enjoyment.The fourth part clarifies how to turn the theory into practice. Firstly, the teachers should change their ideas of moral education. They should have the ideas of moral education text with the character of openness, the ideas of relationship between teachers and students with the character of existence, the ideas of moral education process with the character of feeling and the ideas of moral education function with the character of the guide towards happiness. Secondly, the following principles should be obeyed: subject principle, practice principle, beauty appreciation principle and supremacy principle. Thirdly, there are five strategies that can be adopted. They are initiation strategy, reflection strategy, penetration strategy, cultivation strategy and experience strategy.
