The Contrast Study Of Individual Defense Ability For Chinese And Foreing Excellent Basketball Players

The development of modern basketball sports emphasizes the balance of both offence and defense. Basketball defense is composed by individual defense and collective defense. Individual defense is the foundation of the whole team's defense. The individual defense ability of players is the first requirement of arranging defense tactics and defense strategies. In modern basketball, destructive and attractive individual defense of fighting for the right of controlling the ball has became the most conspicuous characteristic. So improving the ability of defending has been regarded as a magic weapon for winning a match by many strong teams in the world. Chinese men's basketball team has obtained a lot of achievements in its process of development, achieving good results when entering the last eight of world matches twice. However, the military success is not good in recent years; they were baffled repeatedly in the Olympic Games, World Championships and even Asia Matches. Arranged the names in the international basketball nation, our team is in 13th place, which is not consistent with its strong masses foundation and its enormous input. Factors for causing this kind of current situation are many, but a very important point is the weakness in defending of the Chinese men's basketball team; especially the poor defending ability of individuals, which is the huge obstacle of limiting our team's improvement in competition.This article is based on the differences between the individual defense of China team players and world strong teams'players, and draft a quota system to evaluate the excellent players'individual defense ability with Delphi. It is on the basis of thorough analysis and discussion of the modern basketball defense theory. And it uses the new multileveled targets to analyze the individual defense performance of Chinese players and foreign players in matches by video. Through a comparative study of their individual defense ability in defending the player who with the ball, defending the non-ball player, obtaining defensive rebounds, attacking defense, etc, it analyzes the differences between the individual defense ability of Chinese basketball player and that of other countries'. In order to obtain quantitative and qualitative results to disclose the present conditions of Chinese players'individual defense ability and analyze the reasons, and offer solutions and suggestions, provide useful consultations for the trains and competitions of Chinese men basketball team.This article adopts the method of documents and materials, video observation and statistical analytic approach, expert interview, Delphi, mathematics and physics statistics, contrastive and logic analysis, etc.Through relative study, the analysis results are as follows: 1. Though few sportsmen in our country are good at blocking, the whole team is still not outstanding, and they choose the opportunity of blocking insufficiently. Between Chinese sportsman and excellent foreign ones, there is certain disparity in the ability of making opponents foul and break the rules, and a greater disparity in causing opponents to foul and steal the ball.2. Chinese sportsmen have a poor capability in defending opponents'long shoots, so that the rival has more opportunities to shoot and with less blockings. However, the quality of blocking is equal to the foreign players. Our sportsmen have a good capability in defending opponents'offending under the basket and limitary their offending effectively inside the limited area. But Chinese sportsmen's ability of defensive breakout is not up to standard, and they are always broken by opponents, and seldom follow and defend after being broken. What's more, they always break the rules in defending. Both sides have an equal ability in defending the opponent's assisting attack, and the number that breaks the rules in defending those players who hold ball is equal. It shows thus characteristics that they seldom break the rules under the basket, but always break the rules in defending, and not doing so appropriately.3. Our sportsmen have a low ability of stopping, and their stopping results are not very good. They seldom participate in a converging attack outside the limited area. Their attack's quality is not satisfying and their consciousness and ability about it is not strong. Our sportsmen's complementary ability is poor, but they show good behavior in making the opponents who have no ball break the rules.4. Our sportsmen are very capable of defending the center to receive the ball under the key, which is stronger than foreign ones. When we defend those players who have no ball, we always loophole and leak more number of times. The abilities of defending opponents to get rid of and receive the ball, or cut under the key are poorer than foreign ones. In defending those players who have no ball to foul, our sportsmen break the rules less number of times; however, they still lack of technique.5. It is a relatively strong that our sportsmen vie for defending the rebound. Compared with foreign sportsmen, ours are less conscious and enthusiastic, with poor technique and antagonistic in stopping up location. Our sportsmen have non-stopping more number of times, restricting abilities of opponents to rush-rob, fight, and tap in directly are poor.6. The ability of our sportsman's attacking defense is poor, embodied in the poor ability of stealing the ball, making violations and turnovers. Furthermore, they participate little in converging at the outside limited area, and pressing on closely at every movement, and also a small area in defending is controlled by them. However, they have good attacking defense ability in inside-area, which embodied in that our center players are skilled in blocking and obtaining defending rebounds.
