Culturalized school management is a concept proposed in contrast toscientific school management. It is a school management model. During theschool management process, it forms a unique self-identified school structure andculture which is centralized at cultivating value of the teachers and the students.As is well known, values are the core of culture. So school values are core ofschool culture. The main goal of culturalized school management is to promotethe same values among school members in order to restrain or encourage theircertain behavior and develop schools.School values are a general view of objective tasks such as education,teaching and management of school. It should be possessed by most members,including both teachers and students, and play a major role in the school. Schoolvalues are characterized by the following properties: share, stable, special andpractical. It plays multiple roles in school management, among which are leading,concentrating, and formalizing. There are two major steps in constructing schoolvalues. The first one is identify school values, while the second one is cultivatingthose values. A school must identify clearly its pursue of values before it cancultivate them in its educational practice, which means promoting them to all itsmembers through all kinds of channels and turning them into the members' ownvalue concept. The values will ultimately restrain or encourage certain behaviorsof the members, through which efficient school management occurs. During theidentification and cultivation of school values, the schools should follow someshared principles.This thesis are organized into five parts: introduction, literature overview,theoretical analysis of school values, practical evaluation of school values(including the principles and means of constructing school values), andconclusion. In the introduction part, the background, goal and research methodare described. In the second part of literature overview, the authors illustratedsystematically the current research on school values, which shows the necessityof systematic research on school values. In the theoretical analysis of schoolvalues part, the authors tried to summarize the research in this field throughanalysis of literature. Then values and layers of values are analyzed in detail.Based on the analysis, the connotation of school values are defined, andcharacteristics, layers and function of school values are described. Further more,the effect and meaning of construction of modern middle and primary schoolvalues are discussed. In the fourth part, practical evaluation of school values, theauthors have done case studies of construction of school values for the followingschools: Tianjin Middle School, No.1 High School Affiliated To East ChinaNormal University, Beijiao School. Through these case studies, we derive theshared principles of construction of school values. Finally, in conclusion, theauthors briefly summarize the research.
