The curriculum reform of plane geometry is always the focusof concentration.《The standards of Mathematic Curriculum forCompulsory Education (Trial Draft)》issued by Ministry ofEducation in July 2001 deleted a lot contents of plane geometry, and also reduced the requirement of geometric proves. Thisaction has aroused very great dispute, so the author think thatthoroughly studying plane geometry under the new curriculumstandards is extremely necessary. This article begins with the educational value of planegeometry, and analyzes the value of cultivating students'ability quality. Based on it, the author compares the planegeometry curriculum under the new curriculum standards withit's under the syllabus, and also compares the plane geometrycurriculum in with abroad. The study discovered: the new planegeometry curriculum has absorbed some practices and experiencefrom abroad, and has done great changes to the plane geometrycurriculum under the syllabus. In the next chapter, the author studies the basic conceptsof plane geometry under the new curriculum standards, and gives 5 basic concepts of plane geometry teaching. And then, throughthe investigation of plane geometry teaching status, the authorgets the result: although the students show very well in thefield of some ability quality aspects, their logical thinkingability has indeed been greatly reduced. Finally, in view ofthe truth that the plane geometry curriculum "is congenitallydeficient" under the new curriculum standards, the authorsubmits some own ideas and suggestions to rudimental teachingof plane geometry and how to compensate the losses of geometricproof weakening, and also gives 3 special principles of planegeometry teaching and some practical examples.
