In recent years, social, economic and developmental implication of migration in China has been concerned by the scholars, and achieved certain research results. However, heretofore, it has been studied less that the floating population influence on socio-economic development and urbanization of the origins. With the research angle being cast upon the origins, this paper studies developmental implication of floating population for their origins. At first, this article analyses China's floating population patterns and three-category classification of the floating population. And mainly based on dual labor market theory and the new economics of migration, the paper describes why the majority of floating population maintain circulation. Then, combining Lewis's dual economic structure theory, this paper analyses macroeconomic effects of the migration, and investigates developmental implication of the overall floating population for the origin with taking Anhui province as a case study. Finally, with questionnaire and field survey data, the article analyses socio-economic characteristics and developmental implication for the origins of circulation population, long-term-settlement population and return migrates respectively through microeconomic empirical study. The research results bear an important theoretic and political significance to understand differentiation of the floating population, their dwelling will and its influential factors, to grasp the important developmental implication of the floating population for their origins, as well as to reasonably strengthen services and managements on the floating population.
