This paper aims to work out ways to improve the English teachers'lesson designing capability via tasked-based observation and evaluation strategy. On the basis of the investigations, the paper points out that the teachers should not only look, listen and note while observing and evaluating the lessons of other teachers, but also think, analyze and express their own viewpoints after they take part in observing and evaluating the lessons in order to develop the teachers'awareness of reflecting on lesson designing and gain the experience of lesson designing from other teachers. Finally, it draws a conclusion that the strategy which will be helpful for more effective and efficient lesson designing and class observation and evaluations for the high school English teachers. This paper is divided into five chapters. It starts with two surveys, namely The Survey of Class Observation and Evaluation of Luwan High School English Teachers and The Survey of Class Designing Capability of Luwan High School English Teachers respectively, and analyzes the related problems widely existing in English teaching in high schools. In the second chapter, the paper discusses the main content, principles and features of lesson designing and also sets forth the reference theory and basic principles. On the basis of the theory, the third chapter comes up with the task-based observation and evaluation strategy, and outlines the detailed content, related methods and principles with the purpose of improving the teachers'class designing capability by raising the awareness of reflection on class designing. In the fourth chapter, the paper describes two experiments which have combined task-based observation and evaluation strategy with the practical observation and evaluation activities, and demonstrates their actual functions on improving the teachers'lesson designing capability. In the end, the paper draws the conclusion that the task-based observation and evaluation strategy can help to change the teachers'attitudes toward observing and evaluating other teachers'lessons so that their lesson designing can be more efficient and effective.
