The psychological health of university students has become a focus of attention in different sectors of society in recent years. It has been agreed that to help university student develop both psychologically and physically is of utmost importance. In the meanwhile, with the marked increase of standard of living for the general public, more and more people are pursuing a higher quality of life in the modern age. They are not only concerned about the variety of life, but also concerned about the level and taste of entertainment. Consequently, tennis, with a strong cultural relish, has swept across the country with great popularity. It is in this general environment, tennis has entered the syllabus of Chinese universities and tennis matches are being held frequently on university campuses. This situation has posed a challenge to university tennis coaches. That is how to build the students'self-efficacy in tennis training and therefore to increase their endurance of psychological pressure that they have to face in life in the society by the application of Bandura's Self-efficacy Theory.This thesis starts from this point, and enters into discussion by way of Bandura's Self-efficacy Theory and is supported with findings of class experiments. First, the thesis examines the current situation of the application of Bandura's self-efficacy in tennis instruction in universities by analyzing both the causes of weak awareness of self-efficacy and the effect of level of self-efficacy on the acquisition of tennis skills. Second, the thesis discusses how students'self-efficacy can be raised by way of increasing the students'feeling of success, eliciting the students to attribute to the right cause, giving a full play to the role model, to optimize the teaching process, to stimulate the instructor's self-efficacy in education. Next, the thesis expounds the active effect of the students'self-efficacy on reaction mode, self-confidence, will power and psychological endurance. Finally, the thesis comes to the conclusion that the conscious application of self-efficacy Theory in university tennis instruction can enhance the students'self-efficacy, and help the healthy development of the university students'psychology. The thesis also makes some proposals to increase students'efficacy in tennis instruction by the application of Self-efficacy Theory.
