A Study On Senior Students' Unbalanced Learning And Its Influencing Factors

Nowadays, many senior students are unbalanced between their learning of different subjects, which brings them some puzzlement and prevent them entering into the universities or better universities. This research tries to study the factors that lead to the unbalanced learning between different subjects, so that we can come up with some measures.This research has two parts. The first part is about the actuality about the percentage and degree of unbalanced learning. The subject contains 2091 students and 610 students who learn unbalancedly. The results are :(1)about percentage. Firstly, there are distinct differences between different schools,grades and students on the overall percentage. It is higher in three-pentacle school than in four-pentacle school. The percentage declines as the growth of the grade. Secondly, the difference is that percentage is different between different grades in four-pentacle school, not in three-pentacle school. (2)about degree. Firstly, there is a distinct difference between schools,genders and three kinds of students in the degree of unbalanced learning. The degree is higher in three-pentacle than in four-pentacle school. Male's is higher than female's. Secondly, the degree has a distinct difference between genders and three kinds of students in both the two schools. What's more, the degree has a distinct difference between grades in four-pentacle school.The second part is about the factor. We select 462 students who learn unbalancedly. The instruments contains EFT,HIPS and Factors on Unbalanced Learning Test The results are:(1) Firstly, seen from the whole, field-dependent cognitive style influences the pattern of unbalanced learning of the whole and three-pentacle school's students, but doesn't influence the degree, While the cognitive style has no influence in four-pentacle school. (2) Seen from every aspects, dominant hemispherical cognitive style has no influence on unbalanced learning.(3) For the whole unbalanced learning, strategies,metacognitive skills,inner motivation,the level of expectation and teaching are important factors (4)Compared between two schools, they have some common factors, including learning strategies,the level of expectation and teaching. What's more, four-pentacle school has its special factors, such as metacognitive skills and inner m0tivation.(5)Compared in grades, metacognitive skill,learning strategies and the teaching level influence the unbalanced learning of all the grades. Inner motivation and expectations only influence Grade Two and Three, while college entrance examination only influences Grade One.
