The concept of traditional intelligence is limited only to the development of languages and mathematical science, but ignore students' development of sports, music, interpersonal relationships, self-recognition, space and the ability to observe nature. Therefore, it holds back the development of other abilities, weakens the position of superior intelligence, hinders students' access to success and results in great wastes of human resources .The Theory of Multiple Intelligences put forward by the American psychologist, Gardner has drawn people's attention and has become one of the guiding ideologies for china's new curriculum reform. This theory supports the idea of multiple intelligences, every one has at least six kinds of intelligences besides verbal-linguistic intelligence and logical-mathematical intelligence, like visual-spatial intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, musical-rhythmic intelligence, intra-personal intelligence, and naturalist intelligence. Professor Gardner thins that every human being has at least eight intelligences, which are essential for human beings. Every human being has these potentialities and the differences between different people lie in the ways they use these intelligences. The goal of China's new curriculum reform is to develop student's abilities in all aspects and improve students' accomplishment in science. And chemistry is a nature science and it plays important roles in the exploitation and the development of students' intelligence and the improvement of students' accomplishment in science. The multiple abilities reflected in the chemistry teaching of high school are relevant to the Theory of Multiple Intelligence put forward by Gardner. Through the analysis of the characters of multiple intelligence distributed in chemistry teaching of high school and a survey on the present situation of high school students' intelligence as well as its cause, a conclusion can be drawn that the ideas and methods of teaching have something to do with the present situation of students' chemistry learning. To counter this situation, we must transform our traditional ideas and methods in chemistry teaching. Therefore, in order to develop students' multiple intelligence, we should apply new methods to chemistry teaching in high school, like designing a diversity of teaching aims, creating colorful teaching situations, carrying out a combination of cooperative learning and individual learning, designing exploratory experiments and carrying out theme teaching.
