Research On Motivation Mechanism Of University Teachers

China's higher education has achieved rapid development since the open and reform policy carried out, especially in recent 10 years. The competition between universities has also become more and more fierce. The competition is actually the competition of their talents. It is an urgent task for universities to find ways to strengthen the inner management system and to build up a scientific motivation mechanism. Motivation mechanism can let the teachers take full initiatives, use their creative power to the fullest extent, raise the teaching quality and ensure the vigorous and sustainable development of the universities.This paper analyses the motivation mechanism of university teachers in an overall and systematical way. Firstly, it elaborates the modern motivation theories including some content mode motivation theories such as need level theory, ERG theory, dual factors theory, achievement incentive theory; some process mode motivation theories such as expectation theory, fair theory establishing goal theory; some behavior correcting mode theories such as reinforcement theory, setback theory and some synthesize motivation theories.Secondly, the paper analyses the need characteristics of university teachers and the importance and the principle of establishing a motivation mechanism. Thirdly, the paper analyses the present situation of China's university teacher motivation system, and puts forward the existing problems that call for further research and solution. Finally, based on the need characteristics of university teachers, it raises the general thought and countermeasures in establishing university teachers motivation mechanism such as implementing the regulations of employing, salary, examine, training and outer restricting, creating a fair environment and achieving the balance of regulation and humanity.
