Whether the new teachers can smoothly transfer their role from students of teaching to qualified teacher of students during the starting phase, not only does it affect the consistency and tendency of their teaching career, but also it may influence their mode of career development, which will further decide what kind of teacher they are.American new teacher induction initially aims to offer support and help to the beginning teachers, alleviate the possible frustration and sense of loneliness, and decrease the new teacher attrition, stablize teaching staff. With its development, it has become a logical extention of teacher education, an organic composition of teacher professional development, and an effective measure reforming the American teacher education. American new teacher induction is characterized with specific goal, reasonable procedure, rich and pertinent training content orienting to the new teacher professional development, quality protecting system permeating through the process, combining the communication and cooperation between the relative inductive staffs and organizations to co-promote the sustaining new teacher professional development in America. This paper profoundly analyses the American new teacher induction, and with the purpose on providing some precious experience to our country on perfecting the way of teacher professional development, setting up a systematic and scientific induction system to new teachers, and protecting them to march a great step in their teaching career.The paper consists of five sessions:Section one is the introduction that comprises of problem statement, literature review and definitions of key concepts.Section two analyzes the emerging background of American new teacher induction, which discusses the process of induction into three phases.Section three mainly introduces the contents and practices of American new teacher induction, including its connotation, goals, and components, successful induction practices and effect.Section four analyzes the characteristics of American new teacher induction, including clear induction goals, which orienting the new teacher professional development, strong quality insurance system, fair and effective evaluation system and build the firm external supporting internet to advance the value of induction.Section five discusses the present status and problems existing in Chinese new teacher training, and puts forward the useful experience that we can learn from America new teacher induction.
