Since the Reforming and Opening of China, especially the beginning of the 21th century, the problems of 12-18-year-old girls' education in poor rural areas in China have become more and more obvious, and especially the ones of junior middle school girls had attracted researchers. With the study of girlds' education deeply developing to the field of gender equality and focusing girls' needs for theirselves' development and the reforming of curriculum in recent years, sexuality education has more and more needed study. Sexuality is the important factor related to the health of one's body and mind. Furthermore, it is the important field of women' liberation and gender equality. Sexuality education plays the important role of promoting girls' growing healthily of body and mind, perfecting their personality and exerting their portential. But up to now, there has little study on sexuality education among junior middle school girls in poor rural country in China. At the same time, there are some deficiencies in nowadays research of sexuality education among middle school students in China. In details, the contents of study needs enlarge, the subjects need fractionize, the study method needs ameliorate, the theory basis needs strengthen, and the value orientation needs clarify. Therefor, the study on sexuality education among junior middle school girls in poor rural country has the very important value not only for theory study but also for practice.This thesis studied the sexuality education among junior middle school girls in poor rural country in Chongqing, China, with the method of the combination of questionnaire research and qualitative interview, constructed on Social-constructivism and Gender theory. It had investigated the current status of the education and its problems. And on this base, it also studied the aims, objects and contents of the education, and proposed the countermeasure and suggestion to solve its problems. The whole thesis included five chapters as following:In Chapter I, the author summarized the current status, characteristic, and issues to be ameliorated further of the research for 12-18-year-old girls' education in poor rural areas in China and the ones of the rsearch for sexuality education for middle school students in China mainland both from the late 70s in the 20th century.Chapter II introduced the aim, extension, content, value, theory basis, method, and assue of this thesis.The current status and problems of the sexuality education among junior middle school girls in Chongqing was investigated in Chapter III, including the aspects of the girls' sexual physiology/psychology/behavior and intercourse with boys, knowledge, concepts and family and school sexuality education.First, the investigation showed that the age when the girls had their first catamenia became younger compared with the resemble research, they experienced a little in sexual psychology and masturbation and only a few of them had close relationship with boy. And they were confused by breast growing and evaded the question of their relationship with boys and masturbation.Secondly, their sexual knowledge was lacking on the whole and not balanced on different field. And also some problems existed that the hygiene knowledge for catamenia was not all-around, that some knowledge about sex organs was wrong, that knowledge of pregnancy&contraception was lacking, that knowledge for sexually transmitted disease/AIDS was rather little, which made the girls become the potential group to be infected easily by AIDS, that the awareness of law about sex infringement was dim, that they lacked the knowledge that the importance of sexuality for one's life and that the way to obtain the sexual knowledge was improper.Thirdly, the girls' sexual concepts were complicated and behind the times on the whole. They held incorrect concepts for some sexual psychology and behavior. The gender stereotype for women influenced their sex self-identity. They also were confused much by intercourse with boys. They were deeply influenced by some feudal concepts on sexuality. And some girls had no cognition on some sexual issues.Fourthly, as for the sexuality education, the main problems of family were that the parents rarely communicated with their girls on sexuality, especially fathers and that parents' teaching thought was conservative and their teaching attitude unporper, and that the education content was one-side, not all-sided. Some problems also existed inthe school education-badly schools lacking professional teachers, teachingone-sided content and expected to ameliorate the status of sexuality education by the girls.In Chapter IV, the author discussed the aims, objects and contents of the sexuality education for junior middle school girls in poor rural areas in Chongqing. The value of the aims orientated promoting the healthy, all-sided, and free development of the sexual attainments of the girls, satisfying the request of social development, and these two sides to be strengthened simultaneity. The aims included three aspects of sexual physiology/psychology/morality. Furthermore, the author proposed the objects and contents to realize the aims.To realize the conception in Chapter IV and to solve the problems existing, the author proposed the countermeasure and suggestion in Chapter V. The chief is to transform teaching staffs outdated concepts on sexuality education to advanced ones. The essential countermeasure is to set up independent curriculum in middle school. To strengthen training and cultivating the relative teacher is the key to solve the current school sexuality education for girls. Peer education was an effective way worth exploring. To strengthen monitoring and managing work would effectively ensure schools developing the sexuality education. Guiding the parents, especially the mothers how to do family sexuality education was the base of girls' sexuality education. All kinds of social groups needed lunch and unite to make them cooperate with family and school to promote the girls' sexuality education together.
