On Scientific Orientation Of The Ideological And Political Education In Colleges And Universities In The New Period

It is a grand topic to be discussed how to enhance the effect of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities under the new historical condition. One of the important prerequisites is to carry out the scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new period. Under the guidance of the basic theory of Marxism, this paper makes a deep research on the subject of the scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new period through applying the relevant theories of ideological-political education and taking the methodology of relating theory to practice.Fist of all, this paper analyzes the problems existing in the present orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities. On the one hand, there are many problems in the present orientation such as its function is one fold; its value orientation is pan-political; its goal orientation is unpractical and its concept orientation is old and backward etc. On the other hand, the various changes both at home and abroad in the new period bring great influences upon the minds of the college students and severe challenges to the scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Secondly, this paper elaborates the theoretical and practical foundations for the scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new period. The theoretical foundation mainly refers to the basis of the scientific orientation on Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, De Xiaoping Theory as well as the important thought of"Three Represents". The practical foundation means that the scientific orientation is the inevitable requirement to carry out the scientific development view, to construct the harmonious society, to perform the strategy of renewing country by science and technology, to consolidate the governing status of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to enhance the governing capability of CPC and to adapt to the network era etc.At last, this paper puts forward the concrete content of the scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new period aiming at solving the present existing problems. The scientific orientation of the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new period should include the scientific orientations from four perspectives of function, value, goal and concept. The scientific orientation of function consists of the scientific orientation of the political functions, the economic functions, the cultural functions and the ecological functions etc. The scientific orientation of value consists of the social value and the individual value as well as the proper treatment of their relations. The scientific orientation of goal is to bring up more all-round advanced students with the belief of communism on condition that the training of the well-educated and self-disciplined people with lofty ideals and moral integrity is guaranteed. The scientific orientation of concept includes setting up the new concept of development, the new quality view, resources view, and task view as well as the view of moral education in the ideological and political education in colleges and universities.
