In our country, we usually use single indicator such as a certain kind of examination to evaluate the quality of schools of different types and developing levels. We seldom use developing indicators to measure school quality, which lead to the subjective and unfair evaluation to schools. In this research, the author measures school effectiveness by means of value -added measures of school effectiveness and tries to extract school factors from other factors which are hard to control by school itself, hoping that it could overcome the defects of evaluating school only by senior middle school students' examination marks or the rate of entering into high school. Finally it reflects school's real and relative progress and efforts.There are five chapters in this paper. They are the preface, the theoretical research on school effectiveness evaluation, the establishment process of school effectiveness evaluation indicators system, the practical research on school effectiveness evaluation and the conclusion and thinking. Chapter 1--the preface elaborates why the author puts forward this problem and the main research methods adopted in this paper, Chapter 2 probes the theories of school effectiveness evaluation. Through gathering a great deal of materials about school effectiveness evaluation, the author combs the related concepts of school effectiveness evaluation, overviews the present state of school effectiveness evaluation research and tries to analyze the existent problems in the research; Chapter 3 mainly illustrates the establishment process of school effectiveness evaluation indicators system. After making use of principal component factor analysis method to analyze the questionnaire, we get eight main factors which influence the senior high school effectiveness mostly in that region. And effective moral education, practical school-based research and good source of students are the three indicators that are different from the former researches. Chapter 4 is the practical research on school effectiveness evaluation. This thesis applies the Multilevel Analysis Model and value-added evaluation idea into the school effectiveness evaluation, using the progress of senior high school students in three years' study to measure each school's effectiveness. At the same time, it also eliminates the influence to high school entrance examination brought by the variables such as the source of students, in order to evaluate school effectivenes objectively. Chapter 5 continues the fourth chapter's research, making conclusion and thinking. After concluding the practical research on school effectiveness evaluation, the author ponders over some problems such as "school management", "the source of students", "hoping the student to succeed in life" and "differentiation in study".
