The study is to explore the effect's laws of exercise ofdifferent intensity and different pattern on plasmaendothelin(ET) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP). Thecorrelation of cardiac endocrine and cardiopulmonary functionwas also studied after exercise training. The contents of theperipheral plasma ET and CGRP in 41 male athletes and 11 collegestudents were determined by applying specific radio-immunoassay after exercises of different intensity anddifferent pattern. The results showed that different intensityand different pattern of exercise had different effects onplasma ET. The greater the exercise intensity is, the more theplasma ET concentration is. At the same time, the systolicpressure and blood lactic acid increased. The concentration ofplasma endothelin increased remarkably after exhaustiveexercise on the treadmill, butexercises with constant workloadand exhaustive exercise on bicycle ergometer did not remarkablyinduce the change of plasma ET response. The level of plasmaET in endurance training group obviously higher than that incontrol group at rest (P<0.001). The concentration of theplasma ET was increased significantly in both groups and increments of the ET in endurance training group wassignificantly larger than that in control group afterexhausting exercise. The contents of the plasma CGRP did notsignificantly change after exercises of different intensityand different pattern. It was prompted that exercises are thecause of inducing the increase of plasma ET concentration. Theextent of the increase depends on the training intensity. Theendurance training resulted in increments of the plasma ET inboth rest and after exhaustive exercise on the treadmill. Thechanges of the plasma ET related significantly tocardiopulmonary function. The authors think that those changesmight be associated with myocardial positive inotropic actionof ET and changes of adaptability of cardiac endocrine afterendurance training. Besides, it has provided scientific basesfor the participants of the National Fitness Program to carryout the aerobic exercises of adequate intensity, which did notinduce bad responses, such as the increase of blood pressure.
