This essay focuses on the importanceand content of adopting the human-oriented theory to strengthen and improve the ideological and political education of undergraduates and tries to find a new and efficient working pattern in the process of undergraduates' ideological and political education which can widely used in the universities and colleges. The ideological and political education of university and college students should introduce the human-oriented theory to stimulate students seeking self-perfection and obtaining free and comprehensive development. The human-oriented theory holds the idea that the students are the subject of ideological and political education instead of the implanted object. The goal of ideological and political education is to create advantages to develop people's potential, not to restrict people. It can not only better students' spiritual world and cultivate their potential, but also raise students' innovation ability, willpower, judgment, affinity and independent personality. The ideological and political education of college students must face directly the reality of opening-up society and multi-dimensional value, must truly implement the thoughts of human-oriented education, must respect the independent of college students, and hold the idea that all for students, for all students, and for students ' all. We should concern their actual needs, face up to their moral conflict, solve their value problems which puzzle them, and help them to distinguish the right and the wrong, to learn how to judge and how to choose. The main point of the college students' ideological and political education should transfer from teaching and filling the ready-made conclusion into emphasizing to raise their abilities of self-development, self-education and self-perfection, to strengthen their distinguishing power, their judgment, their choosing ability and their creativity. By doing that, it can help them to learn to face real life, to create their life and to develop themselves comprehensively.The whole essay can be divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the question of What. Through combing and listing the correlation literature, it elaborates the origination and development of the human-oriented theory and existed research on the relationship between this theory and modem ideological and political education as well as the definition of relative items. The second part discusses the problem of Why. In this part, the author analyzes emphatically the objective necessity and the urgency of adopting the human-oriented theory to strengthen and improve the ideological and political education of college students under the new situation, and states systematically the theory basis and reality requests of fulfilling the human-oriented theory on the campus which sets up a foundation for the following statement. The third part is the core part of this essay which tries to explain the question of How. The author constructs a new human-oriented method of college students' ideological and political education by elaborating the key aspects to practice this theory, such as starting point, principle, educational goal, content, method, etc. This new method will provide the theoretical instruction and countermeasure suggestion in order to strengthen and improve the ideological and political education of undergraduates.
