The reconstruction of the elementary and secondary education has always been one of the hottest issues in the world since the 1980s. A great deal of research is done to find out what are the most effective ways to improve public schools. It is argued that without the community involvement, any attempts at improving public schools will ultimately be ineffective. Communities can afford rich resources that school reforms need. The community involvement plays a very important role in pushing the contemporary public school reforms in USA. It makes sense to study it.The author makes attempts to research the community involvement in the contemporary public school reforms in USA. This study mainly uses literature method, comparative method, analytical method and case study method. First, this dissertation traces the history of the community involvement in the public schools in USA. And then it introduces what the community involvement looks like in the contemporary public schools reforms from five aspects. Third, the dissertation analyses the characteristics of community involvement, the problems appearing in practice and the measures Used to solve them. At last, the author gives some implications, hoping that they will benefit China's elementary and secondary education reforms.
