Research On Building Academic Communication-based Graduates' Virtual Learning Community

In this dissertation, the author tries to explore the ideal model of constructing a virtual learning community for graduates (for short as VLCG later on) and its inherent operating mechanism. Academic communication is an important content of postgraduate students'scientific research training. So it is the main function of VLCG designed to support better academic communications, in terms of its type as an academic online community. Through fully participation in the interactions among graduates, tutors, experts and their groups as well in VLCG, The author thinks that universities can better integrate its education resources and motivate the cultivation of graduates'creative quality and promotion of group research progress.This dissertation mainly discuses the following topics: beginning with the analysis of the current situations and difficulties in the cultivation of graduates, the author set forth that academic communication plays a critical role in graduates'future academic development and comprehensive accomplishment. Therefore, the author establishes the hypothesis of constructing a VLCG. Then, drawing conclusions of former researches, this dissertation theoretically expound an ideal model of academic communication process in VLCG and the definition,main characteristics,supporting environment as well. Finally, coordinated with my subject, the author has done some practical research work above a VLCG in higher education.This dissertation brings about the following viewpoints: A VLCG can be defined as a type of online learning environment, which supporting individual or groups of graduates,tutors,visiting scholars e.g. in a certain research field to have academic communications on some common-concerned issues.Main characteristics of VLCG includes: academic, creative, loose, dynamic. The subjects of VLCG includes graduates,tutors,visiting scholars e.g. Meanwhile, the substantial community resources,discussing materials and the developing ideals,upcoming questions make up the object of VLCG. The environment of VLCG includes common aspirations,mechanism of evaluation,management in community. Academic communication in VLCG takes three forms: environment interaction,resources interaction,ideal interaction. It happens among individual or groups of subjects and objects in such a condition.
