A Research On The American Community Colleges

America has a developed high educational system. It's original community educational system attaches much importance to the American education and society. So, a study on the American community colleges is of great momentous current significance either to our country or to the world. The paper tries to study the history of American community college, analyze the reasons for its forming, sum up its character and influence to American high education and society,and at last probe into the status quo and the future of our community college. The paper has six parts:Part one is the preface, which introduces the background and the reason for this paper and give a summary to the material about the American community colleges. Part two mainly introduces the history of the American community college. According to its development, there are four stages.Part three analyzes the reason for its becoming. Generally, there are four reasons. They are economic reasons, political reasons, social reasons and the support given by American colleges.Part four mainly gives a brief introduction of its function and its characteristic of running the school. We can draw some lessons from this.Part five sums up the influences of the American community college, mainly to the process for massification of American higher education and to American society.Part six gives a generalization of China's community colleges, analyzes its necessity of running community colleges, and gives some suggestions of its improvement.
