A Study On The Status Quo Of Collegiate Basketball Game In Chongqing

Abstract: This paper, through various methods: documents, questionnaire, experts interview, statistics and logical analysis etc., analyzes the status quo of the basketball game in the colleges and universities in Chongqing in the ways: PE teaching, PE teachers, the carrying out of campus basketball games, the performance of the varsity team; collates the factors which contribute to the status quo of the basketball game in the colleges and universities in Chogqing, on the basis of the opposite eigenvector of matrix eigenvalue; and draws the following conclusions:1. The basketball teaching in the colleges and universities in Chongqing is deeply influenced by the traditional teaching mode. It pays much attention to the teaching process but little attention to its effect and does not make enough research into students'needs in learning basketball. The textbooks are used on few occasions and their contents are not suitable for the needs of students. Students fail to get coached outside the class, which does not draw teachers'attention.2. Basically, basketball teachers can adapt to the development of their institution, but there is much space for them to improve their basketball skills, their teaching level, and they need to be trained in their professional skills. Especially, they are weak in making use of modern teaching resources for latest relevant information. Low-title teachers take the majority of the total teachers.3. On-campus basketball games are accepted as part of campus culture, but the games students take part in mainly take place on campus, little chance to enjoy beyond-campus games, as the result of the basketball skills getting improved very slowly. Student organizations for basketball fail to fully play their role in campus basketball games. A long-term effective mechanism of drawing out-campus money to promote on-campus basketball games is not established yet.4. All colleges and universities attach great importance to the varsity teams and spend some amount of money on them, and gradually make efforts to construct the soft and hard wares. In training, the mode of extracurricular training is applied, and weekly training schedule conforms to the requirements of the college/university. The system of team management needs improving. Teams have very few occasions to participate in higher-level games, and they perform a little poorly if they do. Team members enjoy good employment.5. The main factors which affect the basketball sport in colleges and universities in Chongqing include: teachers'teaching level, teaching methods and basketball skills; the college/university authorities'emphasis on this sport;teachers'guiding of students and teaching content; the atmosphere of campus PE culture; Teaching aim and outline.
