China has the world's largest elderly population and one of the fastest ageing countries. In 2004, the elderly population in total was only 11%, but it will reach 397 million till 2040, accounting for 28% of the total population. If there is no higher level of community health, if will arise many problems to the community, the family and personal life. Hence, improving the elderly fitness and enhancing physical will benefit on various aspects. So the promotion of the public outdoor fitness equipments, not only provides the free training opportunities, especially for the elderly, but create funnier on people live. However, the more and more injury accidents, especially for the vulnerable people, such as the elderly and children, attract the attention of public to notice some other problems of the equipment, such the use safety, comfort and flexibility.Based on the survey and interview of 13 outdoor public fitness equipment fields of Shanghai and Fuzhou, summarize the existing problems of the equipments and the issues of concern to users. Hoping make use of the "seven principles "of universal design to improve the design of equipments and provide the more safety and funnier fitness equipments to public.
