Since 1990s, with the rising of the economic globalization and information society, most countries all over the world have been swept by an unprecedented tide of higher education internationalization. In line with the national international strategy, the strategy of internationalization of higher education has been fixed on by the Singaporean government. Singapore tries their best to improve higher education quality and make full use of the international higher education resources and human resources, so as to make Singapore the international academic hub and build the local world-class universities. What's more, the international education services industry is brought into the national economic development, which will be the base of the dream of"global schoolhouse". This thesis mainly studies the internationalization of higher education in Singapore, aiming to probe on the enlightenments and lessons from it and provide some useful suggestion and strategies for Chinese internationalization of higher education.This thesis consists of five parts:Chapter one introduces the significance of this topic, research summarization and research methods. Meanwhile, some related concepts will be defined in this chapter.Chapter two analyses the background of internationalization of higher education in Singapore since 1990s. Firstly, it casts back the different historical periods of internationalization of higher education in Singapore. Then the environments of policy, society and campus will be analyzed. At last, it explores the incentives at the angles of nation and universities respectively.The two strategies are referred to in chapter three and chapter four. Chapter three introduces the strategy of building the world-class universities and making Singapore"Boston of the East", involving the background, premise and the leading orientation.Chapter four discusses about the strategy of developing international education trade and exploring the education industry. After the introduction of the background and the goal of education industry, chapter four analyses the measures of developing international education services on the base of making Singapore's advantages and disadvantages clear.Chapter five firstly lists the challenges and pressures Singapore is facing, then summarizes the Singapore's experiences and make a comparative analysis between Singapore and China, hoping it will do good to our internationalization of higher education.
