Modern Research On Western Depressed Area In China

western depressed area, with a vast territory, includes twelve provinces and municipalities which were Chongqing municipality,Sichuan province,Guizhou province,Yunnan province,Xizang municipality,Shanxi province,Gansu province,Qinghai province,Ningxia municipality,Xinjiang municipality,Neimenggu municipality and Guangxi municipality. It occupies an area of 5460000 square kilometers, which is approximately 57 percent of china, from the view of social development in china, there are three different kinds of style, they are eastern mode,western mode and the mode between the two. Of the which, the eastern mode was the best and the western mode was the worst. So rural modernization of western depressed area is the object that none of the researchers studying china could avoid. The researchers should penetrate with field survey in western depressed area and collect the data and materials, on which this research is based, and then put forward all kinds of measures to solve existent problems, the final aim is for promoting the rural modernization of western area, which is the foundation of the whole Chinese modernization.The thesis adopts a special method that combines academic research with case study. The case comes from the field investigation of the Western Country Communities Construction Project, Carried out by Sociology Department of Sichuan University and Hong Kong PCD, in which I had participated. Availing myself of sociological knowledge, I find out some problems of the case and then bring forward to the measures to solve the problems. However, because of the absence of the author's capability, the theory is faulty and I hope that the experts can point out mistakes so that they can be corrected.The research on western rural modernization, most scholars believe, is based on the themselves' professional view and study special domain, such as political domain, economic domain and cultural domain. Therefore, the systematic and all-round research on western rural modernization is deficient and so we should strengthen the theoretical construction in this. With the systematic view of development, in the thesis, I believe, modernization should be compose of agricultural modernization,rural modernization and modernistic peasant. I collect the data and materials of Maliu Village, such as family economy,educational degree,political passion and etc, with the help of sociological analysis, the author think that the modernization of Maliu Village includes agricultural modernization of the case,rural modernization of the case and modernistic peasant of the case.Western rural modernization, I believe, should be a long-term and complicated process. So we must have the determination to spend a lot of time on bringing to success, with the guide of paddling one's own canoe, the country provides favorable surroundings for western rural modernization and finally we explore a particular road to implementing western rural modernization.
