The non-government education is a crucial part of China's education system, and its indispensable effect in national education system has also been recognized. The non-government-funded senior middle school education in Lanzhou took its initial steps in the early 1990s. In the course of development, the non-government-funded senior middle school education in Lanzhou has witted several policy adjustments, and has been challenged by the market economy. It now lies at the critical stage. The thesis, from the perspective of a non-government education administrator, guided by the education development theory, intends to study the development strategies of non-government-funded senior middle school in Lanzhou.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction, in which some basic concepts are defined. In the analysis of Part 2, the thesis mainly focuses on the development history and current situation of non-government-funded senior middle school in Lanzhou. On the basis of research of the development history and current situation, the thesis probes into and analyzes the problems and advantages currently faced by the non-government-funded senior middle school in Lanzhou by means of SWOT method, which is commonly used in the field of industrial economics. Finally, the author's profound reflections on the development of the non-government education are presented. And some reasonable solutions, coupled with some practical measures, are proposed.The original contribution in the present thesis is that the SWOT method is first adopted to analyze the strongness, weakness, opportunity and threat of the non-government-funded senior middle school in Lanzhou, and therefore some solutions and suggestions are achieved. However, we are still lack of comparison of investigation objects between Lanzhou and other well-developed cities, and the in-depth analysis is further needed.
