For these years, with the kept promotion of the education level, we still can see a lot of problems, which are not suitable to the development of the society and economy. However, we are indeed in need of the assisstant of a powerful education for the breakthrough. In this essay, we discussed the coordinated development between the education and economy in Chengdu. In the first part, we firstly recalled respectively the views on the relation between the social reproduction and education, and the relation between the value of the labor and education in Maxism; then the labor resource theory in the Western Economics, including the relation between the economy rising and the concept, content, forming access of labor source. In the second part,we proved the three major functions of education on economic development, through the analysis of practice in the developed countries as U.S.A, Japan, Finland and the developed areas in China as Shenzhen. In the third part, we discussed the situation of the development of education in Chengdu. In the fourth part, we studied the necessity of the education and economy in Chengdu. At first, we analyzed the bottleneck for the further economic development in Chengdu; then we argued the necessity of the coordinated development of the education and economy: 1. the depletion of natural resources and the loss of geographic advantages make and human-related factors the dominant force in urban development; 2.there is a huge population, among which hide both challenges and opportunities; 3.it is the objective requirement of the competitive environment. Finally, we summarized the development of education in Chengdu, the main problems and obstacles to development and other infrastructure conditions. In the fifth and sixth Part is a strategic response and a general idea of seven major measures: to establish the concept of giving priority to education; to increase their financial support; to enhance the overall level of basic education, to promote the high school and vocational education, to organize the human resources development, to enhance the joint of the education industry and the science and technology industry; to build a learning city.
