Teaching media are not only the substantial basis of teaching information, but also the agency linking educators with educates. Along with the rapid development of technology, the teaching media are increasingly enriched and diverse, which make themselves be used more and more in classroom teaching and bring far-reaching influence.In the process of classroom teaching, the choice and application of teaching media can directly relate to the transmitting quantity and quality of teaching information. But making a comprehensive view on current teaching practice, we find that teaching media don't work effectively as they should be, even impact the normal progress of classroom teaching. It's the result of many factors, especially some misunderstandings existing in the instructor's choice and application. Accordingly, how to help instructors choose and use teaching media rightly and properly is what we have to solve in urgently.Firstly, with the introduction of background and current development of this research, the researching significance, contents, and related theoretical basis had been presented in the paper.Secondly, the general theory of teaching media has been discussed. Based on the summary conception of several famous media, the development, classification and characteristic of teaching media have been investigated.Thirdly, through analyzing the possible factors to influence the selection of teaching media, several principles to follow in media selection have been proposed, and then multidimensional model to choose teaching media has been established, too. By analysis of the dimensionality and concrete implement procedure of choice, the application of this model has been explained with concrete physics course.Finally, the factors to influence the effects of applying teaching media in classroom teaching has been analyzed from performance aspect, and the blurry integrated evaluation system of teaching media's application performance has been established. Then, the strategy of improving the teaching media performance has been proposed to radically realize the most effectiveness of media and the optimization of teaching process at last.
