This paper,bases on biology classes in Taipei City,is aimed to demonstrate the effects and significance of performance assessment.Compared with paper-and-pencil test,performance assessment is more direct and complicated,putting emphasize on actual operation and performance behavior,and act on students' behavior on specific tasks.Performance assessment is designed for evaluating students' abilities on solving new issues or fulfilling the task.Performance tasks as medium of performance assessment including problem-solving tasks,creative tasks,operational tasks and experimental tasks,and teachers evaluate students by observing their behaviors for the mean time.This paper adopts four research methods: literature research,case study,classroom observation and educational experiment.Referred to numerous historical documents and existing research conclusions,and designed the observation record sheet of biology class in junior high school to observe and record actual teaching situation in biology class.Using the method of educational experiment to study the students' performance before and after the application of performance evaluation.The application feasibility of performance evaluation in biology class in junior middle school is analyzed with examples of instructional design and classroom.SPSS 25.0 is used to result analysis.Combining the data and the support from other research methods,the study found that the application of performance evaluation in the classroom has a great positive effect on the development of students:One is that the students' average scores in biology have improved significantly.Secondly,students' performance and practical application ability are significantly improved.Third,the accomplishment of assessment of students has been well developed.According to the research results,this paper puts forward the corresponding suggestions for related educational forces :It is suggested that teachers should master the principle of performance assessment and control its application process.It is suggested that schools should change the outdated evaluation concept and accept and publicize the new evaluation method actively.It is suggested that the competent administrative department for education should provide schools with material guarantee and provide teachers with appropriate training and communication.Andparents' strongly support the reform of school evaluation methods.Also,the relevant social forces should work together to create an environment for performance assessment.The value of the paper also includes that,expounds the importance and necessity of using performance task to implement performance evaluation in junior middle school biology class,and analyze the scientificity and feasibility of the evaluation model used in the experiment,also demonstrate the reasons for the extension and application of this evaluation model in other disciplines or fields,has an important influence on perfecting the evaluation system.
