The four provinces and regions including Shandong, Guangdong, Ningxia and Hainai have begun the experiment of new curriculum reform of senior high school since september of 2004. Setting up an assessment system of student that is matched with The curriculum reform as soon as possible is an urgent and important task faced to all the educators. As one of the vital component of the developmental assessment system of students, performance assessment has great advantage in promoting the development of the students, optimizing the teaching process, providing growth evidence and evaluating the thinking and problem-solving ability. However, because it was not long since the system was imported, teachers are hard to bring the superiority to the practical using. So it is necessary to explore the further use of the performance assessment in concrete academies.Taking the in chemistry new curriculum as the researching object, we mainly discussed how to design and practice the performance assessment, and how to solve the problems that may appear in the practice.The article is made up of 6 chapters:Chapter 1: the statement of the basic components, including the project used both domestic and abroad, and the reason why we chose to research on this subject.Chapter 2: the statement of the theory foundation of the research, include the theoretical sources, definition, main features, advantage and disadvantage of performance assessment. Chapter 3: analyzing and designing the performance assessment task in . We give suggestion on how to assess and change the present tasks by analyzing the orientation of instructional objectives and analyzing the main type and features of the performance assessment task according to the New Curriculum Standards and content. Then we talk about the procedures of designing a new performance assessment task and the problems that we have to pay attention to.Chapter 4: discussing the problem on the criteria of performance assessment. We chose three most important tasks in , that are scientific experiment, investigating research and essay question. Firstly, we separately analyze and explain the primary trait in the three tasks. Then, we discuss how to choose and set the assessing tools upon the task object and content.Chapter 5: designing of the performing plan of the assessment. We discuss the feasibility and practicability of the project through the action research.Chapter 6: giving a conclusion that the project is worthy of further studied.
