The Comparative Analysis About Marriage Payment In Urban And Rural Areas

Marriage is a great event in life, both men and women paying view on marriage and treatment are the key factors of the success of a marriage in the process of marriage.In this paper, the author takes the subject of marriage payment, the types of marriage payment and important elements in the process as the classification standards and makes comparative analysis to the difference for marriage payment between urban and rural areas. The author chose the city of S and N village which located in the central and southern of Hebei province as the investigation of the study. Through field investigation and without a structured interview, the author compares the different aspects and different attitudes and ideas as well as the way to handle it towards marriage payment under the background of different economic development level and different social customs in urban and rural areas about marriage payment. The author tries to add bricks tiles for the sociological study theory and the marriage payment between urban and rural areas, at the same time to provide some beneficial reference to the marriage integration between urban and rural in the process of urbanization and urban and rural integration.The author draws two important conclusions through carefully analogical and comparing the firsthand materials:1.Compared with before, whether in the cities or the countryside, families pay more emphasis the position on the newly established in the group now, the bride and dowry is actually a kind of intergenerational support, and the ultimate end-result of the bride and dowry is newly established newly-married family.2. Due to the differences in the social customs and ideas and the concept of consumption in the urban and rural areas,relative to their economy, and the city people’s consumption concept are more rational and healthy than rural people.Finally, the author puts forward two suggestions according to the problem from the analysis data:1.The society should strengthen the guide about rational concept on people’s health, and make people gradually fade out ideas of son preference, to gradually form the consciousness of the real equality between men and women.The male to female ratio gradually into balance.2.The government should guide people to form healthy and rational consumption, and make them avoid blind and excessive consumption through economic policy or fiscal policies, to form good social atmosphere.
