| For a long time, Middle School teaching has accepted and practised the teaching method which is based on the theory of structuralism. It emphasizes the cognition in the structure. Knowledge such as vocabulary, phrases, grammatical rules and so on is paid too much attention to, while the cultural background of the target language is ignored. As a result, the students who have learned English for many years often make mistakes in the communication because of the lack of the knowledge of cultural differences between the two languages.With the development of reformation of English teaching, the acculturation and cultural awareness has drawn much attention. Analyzing the current situation of English teaching in the middle school, we aim to give some suggestions and provide some useful opinions on the culture introduction from two angles of views including teaching in the classroom and extracurricular activities .This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the relationship between language, communication and culture. The inseparable relationship definitely shows the necessity of culture education in English teaching. The second chapter gives the reason of culture introduction on the base of the actuality of the teaching of grammar and reading comprehension. Chapter three is the most important chapter in this paper. It offers some suggestions and cases on how to introduce culture into English teaching. The last chapter is the conclusion. |
