Different educational and psychological theories and teaching practices have enforced the notion of our curriculum reform --'education for the renaissance of our nation and for the development of our students' (Zhong Qiquan, 2001). In the light of the notion and requirements of this new curriculum, teaching should be designed in an all round way for students to learn in living and develop their own knowledge structure. With the development of the new curriculum reform, great achievements have been made in the classroom teaching and research, but little has been done about after-school activities. The overload of homework and its low efficiency have remained under the background of the curriculum reform. For instance, imitating, copying and reciting are still the common forms of English homework for students in primary school today, which has proved somewhat un-applicable, unpractical, uninteresting and un-innovative.Research on Student-based Homework for Primary English accords with the new ideas of curriculum implementation. Through the analysis of homework status and children's physical and psychological characteristics, this research tries to optimize and improve the classification, design, assignment, assessment and exhibition of children's homework. The results show that this student-based research is effective. It can promote students' interest in learning, motivate them to work hard, help them establish good learning habits and develop useful learning strategies. In conclusion, Student-based Homework Design for Elementary English Teaching demonstrates practical and real-life activities, techniques and tips for primary school teachers, and helps children to develop as a whole. |
