With the further development of teaching reform,the study of English curriculum and teaching has sprung up.But for a long time,the scientificity of the English homework has been neglected as the end of teaching process.Affected by the traditional teaching ideas of Herbart,the teachers abide strictly by “the traditional idea of homework” in their teaching activities.They will arrange some homework assignment such as to copy,to rewrite,to recite and so on.But English homework works as an integral part of English teaching activity,not only does it have educational functions,but also has both managerial and emotional functions.Based on Zone of Proximate Development Theory and Constructivist Learning Theory,this paper aimes at exploring the impact of the traditional homework assignment and creative homework assignment on junior high school students' English learning achievement in an empirical way.And a group of junior middle school students in an ordinary middle school in Linfen city of Shanxi province were chosen as the research subjects.At the same time,the author used experimental method and observation to explore the relationship between the different ways of assignments of homework and students' learning achievement.The author drew the conclusions to analyze the collected experimental data by using SPSS 20.0 statistical software.First,creative homework assignment with thought involved can improve students' academic achievement;it has a significant influence on improving listening and writing abilities.Secondly,the students in the experimental class with the creative homework assignment had a certain degree on improvement in such test items asMultiple Choices,Cloze,Completion the Dialogue,Reading Comprehensions and filling in the Blanks according to the reading passages.Thirdly,the students in controlled class with the traditional of homework assignment have some improvements in Multiple Choices.Finally,the author summarizes the educational enlightenment in the experimental process and put forward some relevant suggestions.
