As UNESCO points out , people of the 21st century will be able to learn how to survive , how to learn and how to communicate , which greatly increases imminence and responsibility of our basic education . As for Chinese teaching , more attention should be paid to speech communication , which plays an important part in communication . However , at present exit many urgent problems with speech communication teaching , like collating the history of speech communication teaching , cognition of core concept, research of teaching content , application of teaching strategies and performance of teaching evaluation , all of them making it necessary to make more efforts and further exploration.On basis of document research , action research and survey research as well as the goal of basic education curriculum reform and our own personal educational practice and the current situation of high school speech communication teaching in rual areas of Gan Su province , too , dwelt on in this essay are theories , practice and study of speech communication teaching . In terms of theory exploration , what is mainly delt with is to collate the history of speech communication teaching , to clarify the implication of speech communication and to analyse the distinction of speech communication teaching and traditional listening and speaking approach ; in terms of practice and study , a variety of activities are involved : five-minute free talks at the beginning of class , speeches and debates with topics closely connected with rural life , discussions of hot spots of society and accidental events , With elaborately created situation , students are enabled to improve their speaking ability in such circumstances . Exploration of teaching strategies and teaching evaluation should be made in practice to meet the demand for further and sounder development of rural speech teaching and more qualified people.
