The thought of harmonious education is of long standing in both western and eastern culture. Research into harmonious society has been systematic and deep reaching. However, much less research has been made on harmonious education. Most of the previous research on harmonious education in Tertiary Institutions is made in terms of ideology education, morality education and talents training. Little work has been done in terms of influencing factors on education and their interrelationship and harmonious operation of the integral management mechanism. This paper holds that it is possible to make education more effective through maximizing educational functions of different sectors in an institution, integrating them and thereby forming resultant force. The author traces to the source of harmonious education in both western and eastern culture and puts forward five principles on the construction of harmonious education mechanism in tertiary institutions. The coordination of internal relationship of institutions, the improvement of quality of staff and the balance of spiritual and material construction are three factors influencing harmonious education mechanism in tertiary institutions. The author analyses the existing situation, the predicament in development and the measures to combat existing problems with the aim of maximizing educational functions of different sectors in an institution and thereby most effectively meet the goal of education.
