In April 2003, the Ministry of Education published the National Curriculum Standards of General Senior High School Mathematics. It has set clear demarcations on teaching content of mathematical curriculum implementation in senior high school, and directs the new high school mathematical curriculum reform. Also it will lay a foundation of high school mathematical teaching in an orderly way. As mathematical teaching materials most directly carry and reflect the philosophy, content and requirement of the new Curriculum Standards, teaching materials reform is put in a prominent place. In order to recognize the mathematics teaching materials in senior high school, in the first step we should understand the structure of teaching materials. With the publishing of National Curriculum Standards of General Senior High School Mathematics, teaching materials of five editions appeared. And they have been put into practice in Guangdong, Shandong, Ningxia, Hainan, since September 2004. This paper will study the teaching materials of two editions published by People Education Press (Edition A), and by Hunan Education Press. The author will compare the two editions by analyzing the structures and education functions of the teaching materials.With the Literature Analysis Method, Statistical Analysis Method, Investigate Method, Cases Analysis Method and so on, the author will analyse and compare the two editions in the following way. From the text angle, this paper compares the styles, the structures (including ratio, ways of present, summary of chapters, exercises structures), and education functions (including application consciousness, learning capability, mathematical ideation and methods, integration of information technology and course of mathematics, mathematics culture) of the two editions, and summarizes the similarities and the differences of the two editions.Finally, the author gives some suggestions about the compiling of the new teaching materials: (1) view of students of teaching materials compiling; (2) Concept of Teachers of teaching materials compiling; (3) development outlook of teaching materials compiling; (4) wholism of teaching materials compiling; (5) technology view afresh of teaching materials compiling; (6) educational ideas of teaching materials compiling.
