Abstract: Education demands refer to the needs of people having ability-to-pay-for-education in a certain social and economic condition. After having some ability-to-pay, people's education demands mainly show that they hope to realize some special goal by education. The individual demands have an effect on the making, selecting, and implementing of educational goals, content, and means. Especially in minority areas, the changing of their specific historical culture and their unique living environment affect and determine their attitudes toward education and education demands. Recognizing the fact is the precondition of investigating and analyzing the ethnic minorities' education demands.Taking Qiongshan Xiaoping Primary School in Danba County of Ganzi Zang nationality autonomous prefecture of Sichuan Province as a case, the research systematically presents the cultural eco-environment of the school. In the survey on students' vocational ideal, the author finds that the vocational ideals of the students in the school have 3 obvious characteristics: the starting point of vocational ideal is to pursue goodness and to be altruistic; the elders' expectations have a profound impact on the students' vocational ideals; the direction of all the students' vocational ideals is external life. Moreover, the three characteristics are universal in the vocational ideals of Zang students. The research probes into the cultural origin hidden behind these characteristics from the three aspects: the basic spirit of Zang culture, the features of post-figurative culture, and culture interaction. By analyzing the education demands embodied in the students' vocational ideals, the research rethinks the present education statue quo of the schools in Zang nationality areas. The research holds that school education goals should be based on the requirement for living and development of students. Starting from the goals, school curriculum should be helpful to cultivate students' multicultural values; in the selecting of curriculum content, attention should be paid to multicultural ideals and values.
