With the development of Multimedia and networking as well as their extensive application in educational field, the web-based education as the core research bas been concerned by educational researchers. Compared with school education, web-based education makes a great change in its space, time, method of teaching and learning, but how to use the network to support teaching and learning activities has become the focus problem by researchers, Against this background, web-based leaning system was established, however It was a pity that although web-based learning system provided better teaching environment and made certain achievements, but along with the new teaching theory and thorough research, some shortcomings of existing web-based learning systen has been exposed out. for example, some platform circles the system function,a student must accommodate the system, furthermore system lacks of intelligent and can not satisfy the students'individual needs, all of these shortages was contrary to our existing educational concepts, and discourage the development of web-based education. so the writer thinks that the emergence of adaptive learning and new IT technology will gave the design and development of web-base learning system a shot in the arm, by means of them, we can make up for the disadvantage of existing web-based learning system.In this thesis, writer puts emphasis on the system development technology, first we analysis the basic connotation of adaptive learning, and then try to use the theory of adaptive learning and IT new technology to design the web-based learning system, on this basis, we put forward the design principle of web-base adaptive learning system, and analyze its component parts and detailed design .
