Online Adaptive Learning Support System

At present time, web-based learning has been an important mode of life-long learning. The support system of web-based learning is a most important factor in the web-based education, which determines the quality of web-based education.So, studies in the support system of web-based learning have been an important subject. Many experts of this field do large amounts of theoretic and practical studies. But the design of learning resources and the instructional activity comes short of our hopeful effect.In this thesis, I think that adaptive learning mode is a good way to enhance the effect of web-based learning. So I design and develop the web-based adaptive learning support system. And I hope my studies can provide guidance for the web-based education.The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part, I analyze shortcomings of the existing platforms of web-based learning. Basing on the status I suggest that the adaptive learning mode should be adopted in the web-based learning. The mode is described as followed: the presentation of learning resources must be based on the learners' learning style and knowledge level; the support system must give individual navigation for the learner according to his knowledge; the system must give adaptive help for the learner.Basing on the mode, I design the structure of the system and the functional modules of the system in detail. The functional modules are: DM (Domain Model) , UM(User Model), AM( Adaptation Model), AE( Adaptive Engine). At last, according to the design, I develop the web-based adaptive learning support system. The last part of the thesis is the summary of the system.
