Sweden Study Circle (SSC) is one of the main nonformal practical forms of popular adult education in Sweden. During the past history of a hundred years, SSC, being one of the ancient learning methods, is still playing its unignored power in modern society. SSC,becoming one of the ingredients of Swedish adult education, has developed into one of the life styles of Swedes and naturally changed into the assembling activity of learning for the adult. The development of current SSC in Sweden is characterizing of that participation involving all people, extensiveness of regional distribution, multiplicity of activity theme, etc. At present, it shows that SSC highlights the training work and their responsibilities of leaders to the circle; paying more attention to the multiplicity and convenience to those taking part in the learning circle; strengthening the generous supporting coming from the government in the aspect of policy and finance; building the organizing and supervising mechanisms systematically in a top-down way.The present thesis described in detail, SSC, one form of nonformal popular adult education, its establishment, historical origins, developing process, current status, future tendency and its operating mode; analyzing and exploring its effects and existing issues of SSC; recognizing its specialty of SSC and giving a rational analysis to the reasons causing this specialty to appear; summarizing the inspiring points of SSC convenient to the newly establishing adult learning organization of China; and at last, combing with our present situation, trying to seek for the feasible measure and method suitable for China which is comparable to building up SSC.Therefore, to China, one developing country in the underdevelopment of education with large population of relative lower national quality, the practice of developing life-long education is valuable and referential from the long run.
